Burton Electric Training Celebrates 30 years!

     In 1972, Jim Burton, a master electrician from Grand Rapids, MI began a one-man contracting business out of his home.  Trying to make ends meet as the father of a large family, Jim also "moonlighted" as an electrical, heating and air conditioning inspector, and became a lesson plan developer/instructor for Consumers Power Company.  After leaving Consumers, over 2200 students ago, Jim is satisfying both governmental agencies and private businesses, not to mention private citizens with his basic electrical training class.

     Burton's teaching philosophy is simple. 

     He doesn't believe in a lot of unneeded theory or electrical formulas that no one uses today.  His classes are quick, lean and intense.  Jim says "A picture is worth a thousand words."  That's why he uses videos and hands-on projects to allow his students to see what is actually happening on the job.  Many books, hand-outs and rare troubleshooting guides are provided to the student for future recall, when diagnosing a problem.
